On February 25, 2025, KangaBio stood out from nearly 300 competing projects and claimed the First Prize at the inaugural Pudong New Area "Pearl Cup" Entrepreneurship Competition with its project of prodrug molecules for tumor immune agonists. The award fully demonstrates the company’s robust strength in cutting-edge biotechnology.

Project Introduction

Our project is mainly targeted at the treatment of solid tumors including melanoma, breast cancer, lung cancer, esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer and others. Technically, this candidate drug is designed to feature low toxicity and mild side effects, broaden the therapeutic window, cover multiple oncology indications and improve therapeutic efficacy. Accordingly, it can diversify available tumor treatment regimens, lower patients’ reliance on surgery and inpatient beds, accelerate bed turnover in hospitals at all levels, and cut overall medical costs.
Tumor immunotherapies represented by molecular checkpoint inhibitors targeting PD-1/PD-L1 have been continuously investigated for new clinical indications and improved efficacy. Nevertheless, only a small subset of cancer patients respond favorably to checkpoint inhibitor therapy. For "cold tumors" that show poor response to such treatment, further activation of the immune system is required. Combination therapy with cytokines and other immune agonists represents a key research direction in this field.
